Individual Counselling for Children and Youth
$200 per 1-hour session
Counselling for children and teens offers individualized support with a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental space for children and youth ages 8-17 to talk openly about what they're going through and to help them feel supported.
Sessions are designed to help young people better understand themselves, express their emotions, and discover tools for coping, all while being gently and compassionately guided by the therapist.

Counselling can be valuable for youth who are:
-
Experiencing anxiety, depression, or mood changes
-
Struggling with low self-esteem or self-worth
-
Dealing with social difficulties or conflict
-
Navigating family conflicts or changes at home
-
Recovering from trauma or loss
-
Managing academic stress
-
Exploring identity, gender, or sexual orientation

How it works
Part of the first session will involve a meeting with your child and one or both of their parents or guardians to give everyone a chance to share concerns. Following this, sessions will primarily be one-to-one with your child, giving a confidential space for them to share thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

Depending on your child's needs, personality, and goals, I will use age-appropriate and evidence-based approaches to help them develop their ability to manage difficult feelings, increase awareness of their own strengths, and decrease behaviours that may be problematic.
Counselling is not about “fixing” a child or teen—it's about supporting them to better understand their thoughts and feelings, make healthy choices, and build confidence to face life’s challenges.
Sessions typically last 60 minutes and can occur as often as you would like, typically every week, two weeks, or as needed. Everything shared in counselling is kept confidential, in accordance with ethical guidelines outlined in the Canadian Association of Social Workers' Code of Ethics.

While individual sessions are private, I recognize and value the importance of family support. With consent and in a way that respects your child's privacy, I may involve parents or guardians in parts of the process to ensure a team approach to your child's overall well-being.
