Have a listen!
I've uploaded some samples of my playing onto a new page in this site. Click on "Listen" on the above menu to listen. Approapriate title, hey? I'm very clever.
They're both gospel songs, but I'll have some non-gospel and kids music up there soon.
I love special singing moments
Last night I was putting my 23 month old daughter to bed and, as usual, was singing her a song. As I was singing "Baby Beluga" to her, I became very aware of one of the reasons I love singing with children.
As soon as I began singing, her eyes became locked with mine. She studied my eyes and my mouth as I sang to her, and we smiled back and forth to each other. She was still as she lay there listening. It felt as though we were connected in the same way we connected while I was nursing.
It's in these moments that I want to tell every person who cares for children about the power of music. Maybe leading a "10 ways to connect with your children through music" workshop is in my future?
Getting settled
We've arrived! We moved about a month ago and are feeling settled here in Hinton, Alberta. Since arriving, I've been checking out local services and organizations. Some of my favourite so far are:
Hinton Mountain Bike Association
Here's one of my favourite pictures of Hinton. This was taken from one of the main streets back in March. Can't wait to start exploring those mountains!!
The big move
This new website comes at an appropriate time in my personal life. Our family is about to move from our comfortable life in Maple Ridge, BC to a new, unknown (and colder!) life in Hinton, Alberta. To all my clients, coworkers, colleagues, friends, and family in BC, thank you for your support and encouragement over the years. While this move will allow me to focus more on my own two children, I plan on continuing to provide music therapy, music education, and performance to new clients and organizations in Alberta.
If you're ever wondering what I'm up to, please keep in touch and check in anytime! To everyone I'm about to meet in Hinton, also please feel free to check in often. I've got plans. Oh do I have plans!!
Till we meet again…
